AgriCULTURE: October 13 – November 27

Opening Reception: October 22, 5-7PM

AgriCULTURE is a juried exhibition to be displayed in the ArtPop Gallery at 7490 South Broadway, Red Hook.

Theme - Art depicting or inspired by the agriculture that is so much a part of this community. We encourage the submission of work broadly exploring the natural and agricultural nature of our Red Hook surroundings.

Juror – Benjamin Krevolin – former director of Dutchess County Arts Council on the Arts.

We are happy to announce RHCAN’s first pop-up gallery opening this Saturday, July 16. Come to the reception from 6-8pm to see the works of 20+ local artists. Learn what we’re all about, hear about our upcoming projects and how you can get involved. The show will be on view until August 15th, and the gallery hours are as follows: Thursday & Sunday – 12-5pm; Friday & Saturday: 12-9pm.

CAN Art-Pop
Feel the Fizz!

Opening: As soon as we can put it together.  We’re hoping for early July.
Duration: At least a month, maybe longer
Location: On Broadway in Red Hook, next to Flatiron restaurant

What we want from you: Enthusiasm, Commitment and some jpgs.  Send us 2-3 images (please limit size of file) representative of your work.  Some parameters:
Work is 2-D, all media.  It will be in a community art situation, so please exercise restraint in the areas of porn and violence.
Art will need to be wired for hanging and dropped off to us in Red Hook, when accepted, and picked up in a timely manner.  You’ll be given more information on dates and times later. (Drop-off will probably be June 28-29,
All work is for sale, with a 10% commission to the landlord, who is lending us the space for the cost of utilities.
This opening show will be curated by CAN, and we hope to do more galleries in the near future.  This is our initial effort, and we certainly appreciate your ideas and energy.

What this will cost you: Nothing to enter your work for consideration.

In order to fairly spread the costs out to all, we are structuring the gallery as a co-op.
Each share will get a 3 foot square of wall space ( for hanging one large or several small pieces.  You may request more than one share.  In addition to the monetary costs, we will have each artist contributing hours toward gallery sitting, doing publicity, hanging the show, and so on.
We will have to subsidize a budget for utilities, publicity, reception, etc.  We are negotiating liability insurance right now:  If we can’t do it through the Chamber of Commerce, we will have to purchase it.  Art will only be insured through the individual artist.

What this will cost accepted artists:
One share will cost $30 for the month, plus 5-6 hours approximately.  Artist gets 90% of the sale price.
After the initial month, we may be able to reduce expenses, if we should be continuing.

Join us for an fun social evening featuring live entertainment, works of art, food & wine from local restaurants, and an opportunity to get involved in this exciting organization!
